After Effects Tutorial Notes

MASKS: 

• A way to effect the transparency of a layer
• Shape tools and Pen tools help to create masks in After Effects
• Always be sure to have the layer your wanting to create a mask on is selected before trying to create one. 
• Once a layer has been created in the selected layer, as well as having a transform drop down you should laos have a mask drop down. 
• All properties under the mask drop down can be animated with key frames. 
• Double clicking on any of the shape tools with create a a mask that is the same size as the composition. 
• You can add a mask to a mask which cam be combined to create transparent solids
